About
When it comes to international communications strategies, our work has taken several broad forms, including:
- Communicating with Governments: We assist corporate clients with communications strategies around negotiations with governments or with domestic players favored by those governments.
- Strategic Research and Response: We help to achieve financial market and government understanding of a company’s position in response to attacks by activists, usually activists associated with the anti-globalization movement.
- Making the Complex Compelling: We help to frame and draft sophisticated briefing materials on competition policy and other regulatory matters for presentation to the European Commission and other official and unofficial bodies within the EU, as well as to relevant U.S. policymakers.
Examples of WHWG specific engagements include:
- Drafting briefing materials on competition policy and other regulatory matters for a major international communications company to be presented to the European Commission and national and other European bodies.
- Coordinating policy responses and building alliances with supportive groups in Europe for a major international pharmaceutical company, including the drafting and placement of opinion pieces in European newspapers.
- Preparing background papers, fact sheets, advertising, and promotional materials for an extractive industries company, detailing its safety and environmental record.
- Staffing a communications “war room” to prepare strategic responses to questions and critiques as part of a crucial regulatory process.
- Analyzing European regulations, debates in the European Parliament and other institutions, and recommending steps to impact EU policy.
- Preparing a presentation for the European Court of Justice for a U.S. client.
- Preparing a series of speeches for a U.S. client on a pending regulatory issue for delivery to leading European audiences.
