Richard Diamond is a new communications leader at the White House Writers Group. He brings to the role of Senior Director extensive experience in government and journalism.

Most recently he was Managing Editor of the Opinion pages at The Washington Times, where he wrote editorials and oversaw the section’s day-to-day operations. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President of Communications at the Export-Import Bank of the United States. He was also spokesman for Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael K. Powell during a time of major transition in the telecommunications industry.

He began his career working for Congressman Dick Armey during his eight years as House Majority Leader. Diamond filled a number of roles including personal office spokesman and leadership spokesman on technology and privacy issues. He was also the first press secretary for what is now the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security.

He holds a B.A. from Thomas Aquinas College and a M.A. in politics from the University of Dallas.
